I get to pick what I dream about this time. At first, it's like any other dream. I forget that I'm in my bedroom, and it seems normal that I'm somewhere else. I'm in someone's lap, and they're rocking me. I'm looking out a bay window at this field of flowers that looks familiar, like some place that I've called home. Not here, and not the blue house. Maybe both. Maybe neither.
I open my eyes and have a half-awake dream with a big black dog sitting at the foot of my bed. I remember that I'm dreaming and just watch the dog for a moment. It whimpers, and its face touches my hand.
I shake my head until I wake up more, and the dog is gone.
This is probably the least scary "half awake" dream I've ever had. Maybe because I picked the subject.
I think I know what it means.
I need to practice.
I need to do what I need to do.
I want to talk to someone about this. I just don't know who.
Have I really shut myself off that much lately?
